THE burning off season has now re-opened with bush fire control officers making the decision that it is now safe for controlled burning.
Capel Shire’s Chief Fire Officer Chris Scott said residents still needed to take precautions.
“People burning just need to make sure fires are completely out when they go to work or leave their properties the next day,” he said.
With the 2014/15 restricted fire season now over, farmers and residents are now permitted to conduct burnings at their properties without a permit.
Ranger Bob Jeffreys had a similar message for residents of the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup.
“Anybody who lights a fire is responsible for extinguishing it, because it may create a hazard to somebody else,” he said.
Residents are able to burn off on their properties without a permit until November 1, subject to conditions.
“Thanks to everyone who attended fires over the hot weather. It was a trying period for all,” Ranger Jeffreys said.
