A WOMAN in her 40s was taken to hospital by ambulance last Friday afternoon, after Donnybrook Fire and Rescue crews, along with Donnybrook and Bunbury ambulance officers extracted her from the car she was driving.
The vehicle was travelling in a northerly direction along South Western Highway and ended up hitting a tree in the location of Gwindinup, 4km from the town site of Boyanup.
Following the accident police were baffled as to the cause of the single vehicle crash that ended with the car being a complete write-off.
Senior Constable Matt Bayliss, who attended the scene, said they were unable to pinpoint the cause of the accident at that stage. He said the driver had told him she was unable to remember the events leading up to the crash.
The timely arrival of a passing worker employed by SJ Roadworks in Boyanup assisted at the scene by promptly swinging into action with traffic control cones and signs.
A log truck driver was seen being interviewed by South West Traffic officers close to the accident scene.
The written-off white Corolla was identified as a hire car.
