THE Donnybrook Ladies hockey team came back from a 1 V 0 half time score line to end in a draw against Eaton Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
Missing several players, the team played a very scrappy first half. Eaton Eagles had several key players who dominated the game. They scored midway through the first half when a shot at goal deflected off a Donnybrook stick into goals.
The team upped the anti in the second half and played a more cohesive game.
Sophie Stewart was strong at right wing. She continues to improve each week and her goal was just reward for her great efforts. Donnybrook earned a short corner which was cleverly passed off to Lydia Torrisi. She shot at goal where Stewart was cleverly positioned to deflect into goal. That goal equalled the score line.
Torrisi played her usual strong game at right inner, constantly running and getting Donnybrook into attack.
The half back line was led by Lisa Glover, who again put in a strong game playing mostly at left half back.
Wendy Cain was solid in defence at fullback.
The final score line of 1 V 1 now has Donnybrook with 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses from their 10 games.
Next weekend is a general bye for all senior players, when junior players will take to the Hay Park fields competing in an annual carnival.
