SCHOOL holidays were busy at the Greenbushes Community Resource Centre, with more than 20 children taking part in programs hosted by the centre each week.
Acting Coordinator Helen Thistlethwaite said children were involved in a range of activities on offer including crafts.
One of the projects involved children from 5 years to 13 years in creating “knitted neurons” for a National Science Week activity which will take place at the Community Resource Centre on Thursday August 20.
“Our craft club members helped the young people taking part in the school holiday programme to make knitted neurons, which will be used to form part of a national effort to make a healthy brain display,” Ms Thistlethwaite said.
The neuron knit work will involve hundreds of people across Australia in a project to make a “brain” to promote the importance of keeping the brain active and healthy.
The Greenbushes CRC will also run a general science quiz and morning tea from 10am–2pm on August 20 as part of Science Week.
“We are encouraging members of the community to attend our morning tea, take part in our quiz and see the giant brain which has been created through participation by people throughout Australia,” Ms Thistlethwaite said.
