FOUR sport enthusiast cousins are looking forward to the challenge of the Blackwood Marathon.
The Pensini cousins have Gavin, 19, running, Mitch, 16, kayaking, Lawson, 16, swimming and Fraser, 19, bike riding in a team in the Blackwood Marathon for the first time.
“The Marathon sounded like a great event and as we all enjoy our sport it will be fun doing a team event with the four of us,” Fraser said.
Fraser is currently bike riding for fitness as he trains for the State Championships in rowing. He also enjoys competing in Triathlons.
For the boys this will be a new opportunity to test their skills. For Fraser it will be the first time he will competitively ride and the same with younger brother, Lawson in the swim. Twin brother Gavin has had some experience in running.
Fraser, Gavin and Lawson’s parents Evan and Robin, and 10 year old Preston, will head down from Cheela Plains Station in the Pilbara to the Marathon. Mitch’s parents Lori and Warren and grandparents Fred and Geraldine complete the big and loud cheer squad for the "Pencil Case Team".
To make the event even bigger for the Pensini family, Warren and his mates are putting in a team.
“We also heard the infamous ‘69ers were taking to the track as well and we couldn’t let the challenge set by our uncle and his mates go unanswered,” Fraser said.
