THE Donnybrook Cricket Club remain on top of the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association B Division Ladder after a comprehensive win over Leschenault at Egan Park on Saturday.
Donnybrook were sent in to bowl first in very warm conditions on a great pitch , and it was Brad Swarbrick who claimed the first wicket in his first over for the day, thanks to a good catch from Wayne Clifford in the Gully.
That had the visitors in trouble early at 1 for 0. Then in form pace man Neil Robertson struck the very next over with a lethal in swinging Yorker to have the batsmen trapped LBW for a duck.
From there the wickets dried up briefly, Swarbrick finished his spell at 1 for 13 off 5 overs and replacing him, Medium Pacer Barry Kettlewell only took three balls to get on the board with his first wicket.
Kettlewell bowled an accurate stump to stump line and went on to skittle the middle order, bowling 10 overs straight and finishing with figures of 4 for 23.
From the other end Chris Morgan bowled with no luck but was very economic only going for 26 runs from his 7 overs.
Then Robertson returned to wipe out the tail taking his figures to 4 for 22 off 9 overs, giving him a total of 11 wickets in the last two games.
Norm Bedford came on to throw a few down and eventually took the final wicket, bowling Leschenault out for 91 after 31 overs.
After the Innings break, Leschenault struck early removing in form opener Andrew Bayley in the 3rd over for 4. That brought Norm Bedford to the crease and after a shaky start, Bedford eventually found his groove bar and finished on 45 not out. He was well supported by James Harcourt (29 not out) as they steered Donnybrook to victory chasing down the awkward total in the 26th over, giving the home side a 9 wicket victory.
In the C division, Donnybrook had their best game for the season but just fell short losing by 2 wickets.
Final Scores were Donnybrook 9 for 176, Gary Pavy 45 runs defeated by Leschenault 8 for 177. This week sees both teams taking on the Colts Cricket club with the B division again at home.
