ARTISTS from Australia and around the world performed at the 23rd Blues at Bridgetown, another huge success for the longest running blues festival in the country.
An estimated 20,000 people who braved the heat on Saturday for the Street Party found the shade at the music venues to protect themselves, while a very hot 36 celcius ensured record water sales for revellers.
Musicians sweated it out on stage, with many memorable acts including Minni Marks, 19 Twenty, The Swamp Stompers, Tom Fisher and the Layabouts and Morgan Bain entertaining the crowds along with headline acts Ash Grunwald, Diesel and Russell Morris.
The new jazz stage at the Repertory Club provided a nice alternative for revellers.
The youth stage held on Saturday ensured local talent were able to showcase their musical skills.
Blues committee Chairman Nick Petroff said he was very happy with the weekend and pleased locals were once again able to get behind the biggest community event of the year.
The first Blues at Bridgetown festival in 1993 was organised in just six months and attracted about 5,000 people.
