GREENBUSHES seniors enjoyed a bus trip to Busselton organised by the Greenbushes Community Resource Centre for Seniors’ Week 2015.
19 people participated in the outing, which included a train ride out along the Busselton Jetty, a visit to the Underwater Observatory and lunch in town before returning to Greenbushes.
Greenbushes CRC Coordinator Angie Cornish said it was a day of great fun and bonding for the seniors made possible through funding provided by the Council on the Aging (COTA) and Lotterywest.
“Everyone enjoyed the trip out to the Underwater Observatory on the train and then some of our fitter seniors took the opportunity to walk the 1.8km back along the jetty instead of taking the train,” Ms Cornish said.
“Our seniors are relatively isolated so it was wonderful to be able to take them across to the beach at Busselton which is not something they are able to do every day,” she said.
After enjoying lunch in Busselton the group was kept entertained with a “Geezer Test” questionnaire during the bus trip home.
The seniors were also given information about active aging and the importance of physical activity and good nutrition.
