DUE to public demand, the Nannup Historical Society has decided to open its doors to the public on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10am till 1pm.
Nannup Historical Society President Neville Tanner said the Society was originally founded on December 13, 2001 with Charles Gilbert as the first president.
The main body of archives was contributed by the Nannup Shire, who provided photos of Nannup back from first settlement times and onwards. Other photographs and artefacts have been generously donated over the years by the public.
Currently, the Nannup Historical Society has 20 members who are involved with manning the premises, archiving and other duties. Mr Tanner, who writes a popular monthly article for local paper the Nannup Telegraph, is constantly researching and coming up with some very interesting articles.
He said people often requested stories relating to a certain element or person from the town and he then sets to work, discovering and later unveiling the factual evidence.
There are more than 2,000 photographs in this extensive archive, and artefacts galore.
