SINGLETON-Irwinians chances of playing finals became harder following a loss to Waroona with just two games left in the Peel Cricket Association season.
Shoalwater Bay was the only other finals contender to lose on the weekend as Mandurah, Pinjarra and South Mandurah all recorded wins.
Mandurah sits on top of the ladder a game clear of second placed Halls Head and two games clear of a raft of teams on six wins following a win against Baldivis.
Baldivis elected to bat first but were never able to find a good rhythm as the side was dismissed for 121 in the 44th over.
Number 11 Ben Sharp top scored with 37 as the Mandurah bowlers led by Paul Okey 4/18 from 10 overs wrecked havoc.
In reply Mandurah limited to the total with the side all-out for 123.
Ben Drummond top scored with 42 highlighting his place as one of the top batsmen in the competition with an average of 53.17.
Sharp capped off a great game with 4/19 from 7.3 overs.
Waroona elected to bat first in its game against fellow finals contender Singleton-Irwinains.
The decision proved to be a good one with the white-hot Jayden Derosa knocking 69 to lead his side to 8/195.
Singleton-Irwinains opener Andrew Peckover (59) and Jack Whitfield (52) did their best to lift their side to the win only to fall just short at 8/189.
Derosa also picked up three wickets.
The win places Waroona in third with six wins, four draws and two losses while Singleton-Irwinians are clinging on with five wins, two draws and five losses in seventh.
Pinjarra got the job done against Hillman with a 169 to 96 win to move to sixth on the ladder level with South Mandurah in fourth with six wins and two draws.
Jamie Lee top scored for Pinjarra with 45.
South Mandurah moved to fourth after knocking off the lowly Warnbro Swans by just five-runs.
South Mandurah batted first and was only able to make 110; it appeared unlikely to be enough but 3/8 from 10 overs from Matt Hill saw Warnbro dismissed for 105.
Andrew Tatterson was able to get Halls Head over the line against Shoalwater Bay in a hotly contested game.
Both teams were looking to cement finals placings as Shoalwater Bay elected to bat first.
Hammad Khan (35) and Brendan Gillan (41) were the only batters to show much resistance as the side were bowled out for 156.
In reply Halls Heda looked in trouble at 6/119 but Andrew Tatterson was able to guide the side home with a well-made 66.
Halls Head is now second on seven wins and three draws while Shoalwater Bay is fifth with six wins and three draws.
