THE INAUGURAL Bridgetown Kubb Tournament was held at the Bridgetown showgrounds on Saturday April 30, raising funds for the the Variety Bash.
Kubb is a Swedish lawn game where the object is to knock over wooden blocks by throwing wooden batons at them. Kubb can perhaps best be described as a combination of bowling and horseshoes games.
Bridgetown locals Santo Pratico and Nick Joseph organised the tournament with their team mates from Perth, Andrew Hare and Mark D’Lima, to raise funds for their Variety Bash adventure taking place in August between Kununurra and Broome.
Money raised from the Kubb tournament will go towards their goal of $12,000 needed to participate in the car challenge.
Santo Pratico was pleased with the turnout and the success of the tournament.
“This has been a great day and we are getting much closer to our target of $12,000,” said Mr Pratico.
“Everyone has had a great time todayand meeting lots of people that they may not have met before. I hope this is the first of many more Kubb tournaments.”
