The push to be crowned the best side in the Lower South West Football League is hotting up with a number of sides looking the goods after five rounds.
Kojonup consolidated their place on the ladder with a tight win over last year premiers Deanmill.
The Cougars got away to a solid start and led by a goal at the first change.
Both teams continued to push in the second with Kojonup holding a two goal lead at the main break.
Deanmill Hawk Brynn Francis continued to keep his side in the contest during the third and finished the game with five majors while David Fall finished the game with three.
But the Cougars stood up when it counted and ran the clock out 14.9.93 to 12.11.83 victors.
Michael Piper nailed four goals for Kojonup while Lee Lucev slotted home three.
Southerns also notched a big win when they hosted Boyup Brook.
A frenetic opening quarter saw Souths put seven goals on the board while Boyup Brook nailed four of their own.
The play continued to be hard and fast in the second with both teams hitting the mark.
At the main break Souths led 13.7.85 to 6.3.39.
Roos forward Michael McLeod tried in vein to keep his side in the match during the third as he made it rain goals.
He finished the match with eight of his side’s majors, taking his tally over the last three games of the year to 21.
But his efforts were in vain as former Carey Park Panthers Michael McMillan and Viv Blurton piled on five and four goals respectively.
Souths walked away with the victory 21.12.138 to 11.7.73.
To finish the round Manjimup Tigers played host to the Bridgetown Bulldogs.
The doggies were up and about from the first bounce piling on six unanswered goals in the first quarter.
Tigers found their range in the second and trailed eight goals to four at the main break.
With the home crowd cheering loudly the Tigers tried to fight back but the slow start cost them dearly. In the end Bridgetown took the win 14.7.91 to 7.9.51.
Kyle Wilson nailed six goals for Bridgetown with Matt Wheatley, Rodney Jetta and Daniel Humby all kicking two.
The best goalscorers for Tigers were Mitch Bell with three and Riley Coffey with two.
This Saturday Bridgetown will host Kojonup, Imperials take on Boyup Brook and Southerners face off against the Tigers.
