Two hundred and thirty seven competitors set off on the Greenbushes Fun Run under perfect weather conditions on Sunday May 15 to raise funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Sunshine proved a stark contrast to the previous two events which were conducted in very wet conditions.
Young and old participated in the 2016 event which included a 10 kilometre run and a five kilometre run-walk through a forest track around the Greenbushes townsite.
Greenbushes Ratepayers and Residents Association Coordinator Pat Scallan said he was pleased with the turnout of competitors which also registered as a National Families Week event and was especially grateful to all the local businesses who supported the event each year.
“The weather has played a part in getting a broad cross section of people to participate in our event, which is a great outcome for the community,” he said.
“What we hope to do each year is get a lot of prizes and equipment donated so that the bulk of the registration money and raffle donations can go to charity.
“We also had the support of the South West Development Commission through the events funding programme and SG Mining to cover the costs of Blue Chip Timing and our equipment.”
