SEVEN cars have crashed out of the starting list of 49 cars in what has been one of the wettest events ever run in the Quit Targa South West challenges.
Hail, lighting, thunder and overall terrible wintry conditions slowed the drivers down as they made their way through beautiful Pemberton before the remaining 42 cars headed to the Manjimup Town stage where only the bravest of brave spectators came out to watch the action.
The event started on Friday May 20 with a shakedown in Pemberton that included a charity hill-climb to raise money to help build a storage facility for local community groups.
It also gave competitors an opportunity to perform any last minute tweaks on their cars and get a feel for the road, while the public had the thrill of riding passenger in a rally car for a worthy cause.
Competitors always look forward to the social aspect of Quit Targa South West which provides plenty of opportunity to mingle with other competitors, car enthusiasts and spectators throughout the weekend.
On Sunday the Manjimup Truffles Pemberton Special Stage event will be held along with all of the vehicles from a variety of eras on display on Pemberton’s main street.
