Ranjodh Singh shows off his battle scars with pride.
The burn marks on his arms are the consequence of throwing naan and chapati bread in the blazing hot clay tandoor oven, night after night.
Affectionately known to his family and regular patrons as “Honey”, Mr Singh opened Donnybrook Indian Restaurant after working in Bunbury for eight years.
His wife, Reet, runs their kitchen at home; which frees him up to get creative in the restaurant kitchen.
Mrs Singh said the restaurant was opened to meet the demand of the public.
“[Donnybrook] is a good area. We love cooking food in our house, now we want to share that with our customers” she said.
It took them six months to get the restaurant ready for opening night on June 1.
The curtain by the counter was specially flown in from the Fatehgarh Sahib Indian district in Punjab, where the Singhs developed their culinary skills.
Donnybrook Indian Restaurant is located on State Western Highway 1, next to Fruit Barn.
