The Donnybrook State Emergency Service has been bolstered by the addition of a new rescue vehicle last week.
The ute will help make the team “more operationally versatile”.
The 17 volunteers of Donnybrook State Emergency Service (SES) help the community in times of emergency; including incidents of storm damage, search for missing persons, and support for firefighters during the fire season.
Donnybrook SES local manager Carol Vickridge said the previous ute – which had been utilised by the unit since 2000 – was not up to standard.
The Department of Fire Emergency Services delivered the customised four-wheel drive at the Donnybrook unit.
“It’s good because we can take it pretty much wherever we need to go, depending on what we need to do.”
She said the new ute could tow a trailer with the unit’s essential gear during storm damage.
“It’s a lovely vehicle, it’s very comfortable. I think it will do exactly what we want it to do.
“It’s nice that even the smaller units like us are getting some gear.”
