The Blackwood River Valley Organic Garden Trail has been launched with the prospect of luring tourists.
Trail coordinators Shelley Cullen and Sharyn Carroll are both involved in the Margaret River organic garden.
They want to push the Organic Garden Trail as a tourist attraction showcasing a variety of gardens, most of which are open throughout the year.
“This is just another way to bring people to the enterprise in town,” Sharyn said.
“It’s not just about looking and seeing, it’s about people taking away stuff as well.”
The launch – held last Friday – was attended by representatives from gardens, tourism, and shires.
Visitors are able to experience firsthand, a mix of biodynamic, organic, and permaculture practices set amongst the beautiful landscapes of the Blackwood River Valley and Margaret River areas.
The Margaret River Organic Garden Trail was launched with seven organic gardens in September 2015.
The addition of Blackwood River Valley, with a further seven organic gardens, makes the trail a varied and exciting regional project.
Shelley said most beautiful places in Australia were in this region.
“Gardens are said to be the third biggest attraction in the world – we see gardens as a way of life.”
The gardens include Little Hill Farm, Forestview Farmstay B&B, Greenbushes Community Garden, Balingup Lavender Farm, Golden Valley Tree Farm, Chestnut Brae, and Merri Bee Organic Farmacy.
