Donnybrook Pharmacy has gone from being an independent to operating under the banner group of Amcal.
Pharmacist Rowan Lowe has owned the dispensary with his wife for the past three years.
The whole process of the switch took them about one year to complete.
The renovation involved new shelving, new flooring, and a shop repaint.
Lowe said they had received a positive response from the Donnybrook community on the re-opening day on September 2.
A queue of people lined up outside before the store opened its doors as staff handed out goody bags to the first 50 people on the day.
The Donnybrook Lions Club held a sausage sizzle, and a raffle was drawn every hour which included an iPad giveaway to a lucky winner.
Lowe said the pharmacy’s range had been extended.
“A lot of the time our range wasn’t big enough for what people were after. Many would go to Bunbury for items,” he said.
“A lot of our products are cheaper now; it allows us to give better value to people.
Lowe hopes the revamp will fill a void that will benefit the community.
“It’s another reason to stay in Donnybrook. We always like to promote people to shop local.”
He enjoyed working in town because most people knew one another, he said.
“One of the reasons we did it because it’s a good way to provide a counselling service to the community. [It’s] an added service that Amcal gives [us] the vehicle to provide.”
