Concept designs for the proposed new Sandra Donovan Sound Shell, to be constructed in the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park, will be available for the community to view and vote on between October 12 and October 19.
The designs will be on display in the new Town Centre Revitalisation Customer Information Office at 5 Brockman Street, Manjimup from Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm.
The proposed purpose built outdoor sound shell will be delivered as a part of the transformation of the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park, a component of the Manjimup Town Centre Revitalisation project.
The Park has been home to numerous performances over the years, which has demonstrated the need for a dedicated performance space for community groups, schools, event organisers and touring artists.
Shire president Wade DeCampo said the Manjimup Shire received a number or proposals from architects for the design of the new Sound Shell last month.
“We’re now inviting the community to view the proposals and vote for their preferred design, which will help us decide which is the most suitable for our community and for the Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park.”
Cr DeCampo said when people would come into the CIO to vote on the design, they would have the opportunity to learn more about the overall project.
“The intention behind the CIO is to encourage community engagement, every step of the way.”
Community votes will be used to assist the Shire when assessing the designs. It is anticipated that an architect will be appointed to the project in November.
