Bridgetown runner Danielle Troode returned from the Little Athletics Country Championships with an impressive eight medals.
More than 280 little athletics converged in Kalgoorlie for the competition on November 19 and 20.
Danielle won gold in the 60-metre hurdles, and the 400m and 800m races, along with silver in long jump and bronze in the 100m and 200m races, discus, and high jump.
Proud parents Douglas and Bek Troode said their 8-year-old was a natural on the track and they were proud that she did so well among talented youngsters from across the state.
“We are just blown away with how well she does on the track, she is an absolute natural and we are very proud of her commitment and dedication” Bek said.
Athletics runs in the family with Doug's cousin, Christopher Troode, participating in the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Danielle is now hoping to one day make it to the highest level of athletics and has a number of idols, including her big sister Hayley and Bridgetown champion teenage athlete Tayla Van Diemen, who is currently in Canberra competing in the 2016 Australian All Schools Championships.
“Tayla and her mum Sasha have been so good with Danielle, guiding her with her hurdles and instilling the passion and love for athletics.” Bek said.
