A Busselton man was handed a hefty fine for taking marron from a Donnybrook dam outside the regular marron fishing season last year.
Aaron Galonski was arrested on Saturday, October 25 after he crashed his car in Tabernup.
Inside the vehicle, police found 18 marron which had been taken from the dam during the non-possession period.
Galonski pleaded guilty to the charge in the Busselton Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Magistrate Dianne Scaddan noted he was caught “red handed”.
“Many people commit this type of offence which is unacceptable,” she said.
Galonski was fined $800 for the offence and $900 as an additional cost to pay for the marron.
