A Bridgetown woman has had her head shaved as a gesture to raise money for local firefighters.
The idea of running the fundraiser popped into Bernadette Johnstone’s mind after the recent fires in Nannup.
“It made me think how fortunate we are to have great firefighters in our area,” she said.
“It was enough to get you galvanised to realise how lucky we are to have them, especially during bushfire season.”
The money raised will go towards the Bridgetown Bushfire Brigade and the volunteer support brigade.
She has yet to reach her target of $2016.
Bernadette used to be a volunteer at the Bushfire Support Brigade from 2008 to 2009; she left Bridgetown in 2010, and returned 18 months ago.
“I think they'd like to get a dedicated vehicle so they can get food out to fire-hit areas,” she added.
Bernadette also shaved her head to support a friend battling lung cancer and to raise funds for the ACRF back in 2009.
