DONNYBROOK Year 9s played a double header on the weekend with mixed results.
On Saturday they travelled to Hay Park where they batted first and made a healthy 9 for 158.
Zane Plati retired on 53 while Mason Cooper reached 49 and Yumeth Dep 15.
In reply Hay Park were restricted to 7 for 114. Ella McGurk was the only multiple wicket taker with 2 for 13.
Sunday saw Donnybrook travel to Eaton where again they batted first.
Donnybrook’s innings had a shaky start as they slumped to 3 for 13 before Rory Beeson and Zane Plati steadied the innings with a 46-run partnership.
Once this was broken they had a few small partnerships but were bowled out for 124.
Zane Plati made 56, Elliot Bedford 11, Rory Beeson10. Extras were 28.
In reply Eaton were 5 for 72 at the halfway mark. Needing 52 to win, the game was in the balance.
Donnybrook brought their strike bowlers back on and had Eaton in trouble at 9 for 103.
Needing 22 to win Donnybrook couldn't find the last wicket and Eaton reached the target with two balls to spare.
Elliot Bedford took 3 for 16, Zane Plati 2 for 8 and Finn Turnbull 2 for 21.
