South West residents will take part in Australia’s longest roadside demonstration in a bid to protect the region from gas field development.
The widespread action groups plan to hold WA Labor to account on their promise of a legislated ban on fracking in the South West, Peel and Swan Valley, and moratorium for the rest of the state.
Australia's longest roadside demonstration takes place from 10am to 2pm on Saturday.
Colourful signs will be displayed by people at stops in Bunbury, Gelorup, Stratham, Capel, Busselton, Eaton, Harvey and Brunswick.
The demonstrations will take place at:
- Bunbury Bypass: the rest stop on Robertson drive in between Eelup roundabout and picton lights
- Bunbury: Rest stop Bussell Hwy across from the South West Health Campus
- Gelorup rest area Bussell Highway (just before Caltex servo heading out of town)
- Stratham: Puma Service Station
- Capel: CWA Capel branch is meeting at the rest stop just south of Roberts Rd on Bussell Highway
- Capel: Capel action group Bussell Hwy between Bentley Drive and Yeardy Road
