Who says winter is the time to stay indoors? Grow Greenbushes is set to celebrate the season and everything it offers at the Greenbushes Winter Festival.
Featuring numerous local community groups and businesses, the August 4-6 event will include art workshops, an exhibition, garden activities, memorabilia and laser mayhem.
The festivities begin with the official opening of the Greenbushes Art Trail and Exhibition 2017 at the RSL Hall on Blackwood Road from 6-8pm on August 4 and includes mulled wine and wine tastings featuring Wattle Ridge Wines from Greenbushes.
The exhibition will then be open to the public from 9am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday, with visitors asked to cast a vote for their favourite art work and determine the winner of the People’s Choice award.
In conjunction with the Art Trail there will be a number of art workshops happening over the weekend with guest artists including basket weaving with Sally Stoneman. Call Shannon on 9764 3361 for details and bookings.
There will be plenty of food choices on offer on August 4 with the choice of pizza at Tasty Edibles, fish and chips at the Roadhouse or dinner at the Shamrock and Exchange hotels.
The Greenbushes Community Garden will be open for morning tea, tours and market stalls on Saturday, August 5.
There will also be story telling with the locals at the adjacent Town Square on Saturday morning, while St Patrick’s Catholic Church will display christening gowns and memorabilia from 10am-2pm and the Greenbushes Masonic Lodge will open its doors from 10am-2pm.

For the youngsters and the young at heart there will be Laser Mayhem at Maranup Ford Farm on the Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm for a gold coin donation. All proceeds to the Autism Association of WA.
An Old Time Dance will then follow at the Greenbushes District Hall 8-11pm.
There’s more to do on Sunday, August 6 with an Open Day at Blue Sky Retreat from 10am-1pm featuring a swap meet, composting workshop and garden tour.
The Greenbushes Discovery Centre will also host its annual Wattle Walk from 10am to 12pm on Sunday August 6, with a sausage sizzle at the Heritage Park to follow the walk.
Wattle Ridge Winery will also be open over the winter festival weekend with mulled wine and tastings.
