Today Hyde Park looks quietly elegant, regal even, but its life has been nothing short of a long-running soap opera. Uprooted, mistreated, decorated and regularly redecorated, built up, pulled down and stripped of everything, this graceful city park with the radial pathways and tidy flower beds has had it pretty tough.
