LOCAL Boyup Brook children have been given the opportunity to help kids in need by contributing to the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Appeal.
Seven primary school students attended a workshop at the Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre on August 27, where they created beautiful loom band bracelets to be added to the shoeboxes.
Local Appeal coordinator Marjorie Shone was on hand to see the children undertake their handicrafts and collect the bands.
Ms Shone told the participants more about the Shoebox Appeal and what other things can be included in boxes, such as hairbrushes, small teddy bears, notepads, and pencils, saying that if the children don’t have a pencil, they can’t go to school.
The annual appeal provides children in developing countries with gift-filled shoeboxes.
The children had a fun and rewarding time, and were thanked for donating their creations to the Appeal.
