It will be a South West feast for those visiting the new Optus Stadium in 2018 with Dardanup Butchering Company and Mrs Macs picked to supply patrons with WA’s favourite pies.
The companies have teamed up to create an exclusive pie – Mrs Macs Dardanup EverTender Steak Pie – for Perth’s hotly anticipated, 60,000 seat complex.
The exclusive pie will be made available at ten locations throughout the stadium from January 2018.
A Mrs Macs Pie Shop will also be opened at level one towards the south-eastern end.
Member for Collie-Preston Mick Murray MLA visited the Dardanup Butchering Company’s family farm yesterday for the announcement.
Mr Murray said he was delighted that Mrs Macs and the Dardanup Butchering Company’s produce would be involved in the Optus Stadium’s development.
“It proves that the benefits of the stadium are going to come not only the city area but certainly down to the country,” he said.
Mr Murray said he was also pleased that around 500 people from across WA were employed by Mrs Macs and Dardanup Butchering Company.
Dardanup Butchering Company retail sales manager Blake Panizza said that it would strengthen the relationship between the beef producer and Mrs Macs.
He said the company was passionate about sourcing local produce and creating opportunties in the region.
Mrs Macs was announced as the exclusive supplier of pie and pastry products at the venue, securing a five-year contract.
Mrs Macs chief executive officer Paul Slaughter said the company would provide valued produce for the new stadium.
“It’s a gourmet pie, there’s no doubt about it, and will far exceed the quality expectations I think that consumers have come to see over the years,” he said.
“We’re really looking forward to serving it at the new Optus stadium.”
The company delivers more than 100 million pastries to customers across Australia and New Zealand with Mr Slaughter confirming all ingredients were sourced from WA companies.
