The Donnybrook Cricket Club 2nd Grade side is sitting just outside the top four in the 2017/18 Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association competition after nine rounds.
The team recently clinched victory over an in-form Harvey-Benger.
Harvey-Benger won the toss and chose to bat first at Donnybrook’s Egan Park Turf.
The visitors started favourably, with opening batsman Haydn Jones clinching 35 runs before being caught by Ben Alsop.
Donnybrook’s bowlers – led by Dion Parker (5/30 off 8.3 overs) – worked hard and dismissed Harvey-Benger for 190.
Aiming for a reachable target, Donnybrook opener James Harcourt made light work of the visitors’ bowling line-up.
Harcourt – finishing with 75 not out from 84 balls – gave his side the momentum.
Strong efforts from Mark Manea (36 from 19) and Wayne Huckson (33 from 32) ensured a five wicket win with 18 overs remaining.
The side was equally impressive in round eight, earning a six wicket win over Marist at Forrest Park North.
Donnybrook carved through the home side’s batting order, with fast bowler Neil Robertson taking 5/15 off nine overs).
Aiming for 120, Donnybrook’s top order batsmen Troy Skippings (16 from 12) and Manea started their side’s inning well.
The side turned heads with a 4/122 result with 17 overs to spare.
Donnybrook was not so lucky in round seven, suffering a one wicket loss to Eaton.
After electing to bat first, the home side quickly ran into trouble.
Phillip Welsh and Joel Parker’s dismissals saw Donnybrook languishing on 3/35 early on.
Middle order batsman Ben Alsop went on the attack, smashing 41 from 93 to lift his teammates’ spirits.
Donnybrook’s middle and lower order collapses saw the team dismissed for 132.
The dismissals of Eaton’s top order batsmen Billy Boucher (4), Brodie Swayne (0) and Mick Rodgers (9) gave Donnybrook confidence.
Tyron Pigors had other ideas, knocking 35 from 28 to put Eaton back in contention.
Despite mixed results from Eaton’s batsmen, the visitors reached 9/133 with 14.7 overs left.
Donnybrook’s trip to Dalyellup saw the team collect a 98-run win in round six.
Impressive knocks from Welsh (49 from 79) and Skippings (79 from 57) baffled Dalyellup’s bowlers.
A bottom order collapse from Donnybrook did little to hinder the side’s 244-run result.
Joel Parker collected 3/19 off seven overs, assisting Donnybrook in dismissing Dalyellup for 146.
Donnybrook sits sixth on the ladder with seven rounds to go.
