The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay came to Bridgetown, with 11 carefully selected runners bringing the Baton through the town on Friday February 23rd, 2018.
The carnival atmosphere continued in the Bridgetown Memorial Park with an official welcome and performances from local school children and community singers, along with food and drinks supplied by the shire to help celebrate Bridgetown’s 150th year.
The prestigious opportunity to carry the baton was enjoyed by local Bridgetown and Greenbushes residents, Jennie Linto, Di Hollett, Graeme Campbell, Leonie Eastcott, Sinead Jamieson, Neil Hornby.
Boyup Brook resident Jodi Nield also participated along with Nicole Napier from Karrinyup, Mark Regan from Narrogin, Paula Reid from Kojonup and Margie Ward from Wagin.
The relay Baton was transported to Bunbury before continuing it’s run in Bunbury before heading to Rockingham and Perth.
