The Blackwood River Chamber Festival is Western Australia’s longest running chamber music festival.
The 17th festival will be held at the end of April, bringing together many wonderful musicians, great food and drinks along with a delightful ambiance in and around the Blackwood region.
The pre-festival event will bring some of the region’s best chamber musicians to Dalmore Farm on April 27.
This year the main event will be held at The Cidery on Saturday, April 28, which will feature the Darlington String Quartet, pianist Gladys Chua and local Bridgetown musician Geoff Bourgault du Coudray.
Violinist Sally Boud, from Bridgetown, will be joined by musician friends Semra Lee, Jon Tooby and Zac Roundtree as the Darlington String Quartet.
The four will take part in an open rehearsal and discussion on April 28, before concluding the festival with Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 132.
Following the performance, the group will play at the Boya Community Centre on June 10.
A light meal will be provided as part of the ticket price and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the evening.
Mr Bourgault du Coudray, also serving as the Blackwood River Chamber Festival’s coordinator, said he was looking forward to holding the event in Bridgetown again following a two-year grace period.
“This festival was created by Vincent Moleta, who for many years ensured a variety of chamber music was available to music lovers in the South West,” Mr Bourgault du Coudray said.
“Following a two year break, we have decided to bring it back, as so many people love this type of music.”
Mr Bourgault du Coudray said the house concerts during the weekend had already sold out and there were a limited number of tickets still available for the Saturday night concert at The Cidery.
