A selection of flora photography will be on display at numerous locations throughout the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup to celebrate the beginning of spring and the wild flower season in the town and surrounding areas.
The Wild Flowers Through a Young Lens Trail will start on Saturday, September 1 and run until Monday, October 8, to coincide with the end of the school holidays.
Donnybrook Regional Tourism Association manager Liz Martella said the trail was an opportunity to showcase some amazing photographs but also bring people to the region.
“The photography art trail will begin at the Donnybrook Visitors Centre, where participants will receive a trail map. This map will guide them throughout the shire to the participating businesses and community organisations, where the photography will be on exhibition,” she said.
“The photography items on display have been taken by South West children who participated in the 2017 Blooming Wild Festival, where the kids were given photography workshops on how to take photos, what to look for and then created these amazing photos.
“The photos are of an extremely high standard and a selection have just come back from being on display at The Royal Flower and Garden Festival in Melbourne.
“We thought it would be good to acknowledge them in our shire and something fun for anyone to really do.”
