The Manjimup Bluegrass and Old Time Music Weekend is being held over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, September 21 – 24.
This year the event is hosting three musicians, Ashlee Watkins, Andrew Small and Jeremy Marcotte, with an opportunity to join in on workshops run by the musicians throughout the weekend.
Songs From the Mountains will be a singing workshop taken by Ashlee Watkins and Andrew Small who will give an insight into the old timey way of singing.
Jeremy Marcotte will run a workshop about piano and there will also be plenty of other workshops for banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin players running.
On the Saturday Manjimup’s town centre will come alive with music and jam sessions happening at allocated venues and cafes.
The Southern Forests Region at the Manjimup Farmers’ Market will also be held on Saturday morning for an opportunity to buy fresh produce.
A highlight of the weekend will be the Saturday night feature concert at the Manjimup Town Hall.
Opening the concert for the three visiting performers, The New Macedon Rangers, Watkins and Small and Marcotte, will be popular Margaret River bluegrass folk band Doug and Cletus.
On Sunday morning New Macedon Rangers, Jeremy Marcotte, and bluegrass old time enthusiasts from Perth and around the South West will be attending the free Gospel SingOut at St Martin’s Church.
