As part of Western Australia's Mental Health Week Tender Care will be holding a free forum in Bridgetown on how to address, support and strengthen our mental health.
Heads together in our community is a mental health recovery program sponsored by Tendercare in conjunction with Pips Pottery Cafe.
On Wednesday, October 10 at Pips Pottery Cafe there will be a fun filled day of yoga, sound healing, music, art therapy, drumming and a number of presentations from art therapists, youth teachers, general practitioners, Relationships Australia and the Blackwood Youth Action Group.
Tender Care spokesperson Christine Ashbil said they wanted to hold the forum as a way of reducing the stigma associated with mental health.
“There will be so many different activities and workshops running throughout the day. We wanted to hold a number of different things to look at alternatives to medication,” she said.
“There is also a lot of people with mental health issues who are contributing their artworks and sculptures to go into the our art exhibition on the day.”
Mental Health Week, which runs from From October 8 – 14 highlights the importance of how we go about dealing with mental health in our every day lives.
This years’ theme looks at mental health where we live, learn, work and play.
