Shaun Marsh credits a new-found freedom for a match-winning unbeaten century that has secured his Test future.
Marsh's superb 163 not out delivered Western Australia a five-wicket win against South Australia on Monday in the Sheffield Shield.
And it also ensures the maligned Marsh keeps his spot in the Australian side for the four-Test series against India.
Marsh made just 14 runs at an average of 3.5 last month in the two-Test series against Pakistan.
Returning with his Test career again in the balance, he has since struck a one-day international ton and a pile of Shield runs - his 163no follows scores of 80, 98 and 21 in domestic ranks.
Marsh said a key factor in his revival had been forgetting entirely about his Test future.
"It has felt good the last few weeks now. I just want to keep playing with that freedom," Marsh said.
"I'm not too sure when they're picking the (Test) team. It's out of my control and I haven't been thinking about it at all over the last couple of weeks.
"I have just wanted to play well obviously in the one-dayers (for Australia) and play well for WA.
"Honestly, that has been my thought process the whole way along."
Marsh and South Australia's skipper Travis Head both bolstered their Test claims in the Shield game in Adelaide.
Head made a polished first-innings 87 and, although out for six in the second dig, appeared set to keep his Test spot.
"I batted well in the first innings - disappointing not to get a hundred," Head said.
"And again disappointing to get out the way I did in the (second) innings but those things happen. You can't get runs every time ... I feel like I'm playing well."
Marsh and Head spent invaluable time at the Adelaide crease, the venue for the series-opener from December 6 against India.
"I always love coming here, it's a beautiful ground and I have had some success here," Marsh said.
"To get a hundred today and get the boys over the line was very satisfying."
Meanwhile, Australian captain Tim Paine made 40 on Monday for Tasmania against Victoria in the Shield game in Hobart.
And Australia's Test bowlers found form for NSW in a win against Queensland.
Spinner Nathan Lyon took 5-94 and paceman Josh Hazlewood grabbed 4-30 to bowl the Blues to victory.
