A man has been fined for hurling abuse at officers whilst inside the Bridgetown Police Station.
Representing himself, David St John Michael Thomas attended Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday, February 7.
He pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly behaviour in a police station/lock up.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Karl Rep told the court Mr Thomas was being held at the station on November 11, 2018.
Around 1.50am, he began yelling and swearing at the officers on duty.
He stepped up onto a ledge, before repeatedly kicking the glass door of his cell.
Whilst kicking the cell door, Mr Thomas continued to shout at the police officers in attendance.
Mr Thomas was later taken to Bunbury Police Station.
Magistrate David MacLean handed down a $500 fine.
Mr Thomas then pleaded not guilty to two counts of failing to obey an order given by a police officer, one of disorderly behaviour in public, and one of obstructing police officers.
The accused told the court he recently discussed one of his charges with a duty lawyer.
One of Mr Thomas’s charges was remanded to the Bunbury Magistrates Court for Tuesday, April 16.
The other three charges were also remanded to a later date, with Mr Thomas due to reappear for a half-day trial on Thursday, May 23.
Mr MacLean extended Mr Thomas’s bail.
