Less than two months after being axed from the Socceroos, Tomi Juric appears on the way out of his Swiss club FC Luzern.
The 27-year-old played a full 90 minutes for Luzern on Sunday against Neuchatel Xamax in his seventh Swiss Super League appearance this season.
But the club has announced Juric will not feature in Wednesday's match against Sion and on Saturday against Lugano to give the striker time to sort out his future.
"The decision has been brewing for quite some time," sporting director Remo Meyer said.
"There had been rumours about Tomi already last summer and again this winter - and we decided to give him a break to sort out his future career.
"Tomi should be free in his mind, to talk to other clubs about a possible transfer."
The club has stressed Juric has not been suspended nor is his behaviour being questioned.
Meyer said the decision was simply made with concern Juric might not be fully focused with his future in the air.
"I had the feeling that Tomi is not able to give 100 per cent for the club with all the talk about a potential transfer - but we can only work with players that are able to give all they have."
Juric has been with the Swiss club since July 2016 after joining from Dutch Eredivisie team Roda JC and his contract expires at the end of the season.
The decision caps a tough couple of months for Juric, who had been overlooked by Australian coach Graham Arnold in December when the Socceroos' Asian Cup squad was announced.
When injury ruled out Martin Boyle in the build-up to January's tournament, Arnold opted to overlook Juric again and named Cyprus-based Apostolos Giannou instead.
Several options exist as possible destinations for Juric.
Clubs in a number of countries including Croatia, Russia, Poland, China and Korea have active transfer windows.
The Swiss window closes on Friday.
