Senior Cadets from Bridgetown High School enjoyed a camp during week five of the school term, with a number of outdoor challenges set to push them to their limits and provide plenty of action packed fun.
The Bridgetown High School Emergency Services Cadet program is a challenging, diverse and rewarding program aimed at encouraging the students to become future community volunteers and leaders.
The year 9 and 10 cadets, experienced a rewarding and exciting first camp of the year, when they travelled to Collie to enjoy many outdoor activities, including abseiling, prusiking, climbing and water rock sliding activities.
Bridgetown cadet unit leader John Tonai-Moore said the senior cadets were able to enjoy higher end challenges as a way to learn new skills and to challenge themselves in activities that they otherwise would probably not participate in.
"It is wonderful to see the progression our cadets make from year 7 through to year 10. When I compare the new cadets with our highly independent senior cadets I am always amazed at how much they change and grow over time." Mr Tonai-Moore said.
Throughout the school year, Cadets will be able to attend up to four outdoor camps as well as weekly training, which will focus on a variety of activities including, learning how to fly a drone, learning archery, abseiling, hiking, mountain bike riding, raft building and caving.
Some cadets may also be able to attend the state cadet camp and the leadership camp run by Cadets WA.
