Australian screenwriters have a new path to follow to make it big in Hollywood.
Shane Brennan, one of Australia's most successful figures in Tinseltown after running hit TV series NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and CSI, is spearheading the US launch of Showcase and creation of a Scripted Ink office in Hollywood.
Showcase is an online platform featuring more than 150 potential film and TV projects by Australian screenwriters.
It is designed to allow international producers and screen investors to peruse the projects and connect with their Australian creators.
Scripted Ink is a not-for-profit screen development company.
"Because of the way that audiences get their entertainment these days there's been an absolute explosion in the demand for content," Brennan said.
"Australian screenwriters are a rich source of writing talent and ideas.
"Showcase and Scripted Ink are working together to bring that Australian talent to the US, and indeed the world."
Showcase and Scripted Ink were feted on Monday at a launch event at Australians in Film's head office, known as Charlie's, located inside Hollywood's historic Raleigh Studios.
Since Showcase launched in Australia in 2017, more than a dozen projects have been optioned and over 30 projects and writers received Scripted Ink funding for script development, including Vestal Virgins by Ellie Beaumont (House Husbands) and Three Crooked Kings by Justin Monjo (Storm Boy).
