WARRNAMBOOL-born apprentice jockey Laura Lafferty booted home three winners, including the first of her fledgling career, from her five rides at Wodonga on Saturday.
Fearless Falcon gave Lafferty her first race victory when the six-year-old mare won a maiden plate.
The talented sportswoman, who turned 21 only weeks ago, followed up her victory on Fearless Falcon with wins on Dobell and Carwelkin on the six-race program.
"It's a great result to get my first winner but to win three on the one day is very special," Lafferty told The Standard.
"The winners give me confidence to go forward with my riding career.
"I'm thankful to the trainers and owners who have supported me in my short career."
Lafferty's father Peter was track-side to watch her three victories.
Her late grandfather Kevin was a legendary Warrnambool horse trainer.
Lafferty, who also played netball in Hampden league's top grade and is a talented middle distance runner who had state success as a junior, is apprenticed to Mornington trainer Grahame Begg.
