Carla Fletcher has been appointed the new president of the Hume Netball Association.

It comes after outgoing president Julianne Clancy stepped away from the committee after 24 years of service.

Fletcher has been involved with the board for the past 13 years as umpire coordinator and said she's looking forward to taking on a different role.

"It's exciting, but also a little bit worrying, stepping into Julianne's shoes because she's been there for so long," Fletcher said.

"We've got a great team, so hopefully everything goes well and we keep moving forward."

Fletcher began her netball career with Lockhart in 1989 starting out in A-grade and was a part of the Demons' C-reserve premiership side this year.

Fletcher said it was a pleasing way to end her time on the court.

"It was a nice way to step out of playing and do something different," she said.
