Greenbushes school children joined with local Returned Services League (RSL) representatives and community members to commemorate Remembrance Day at the town's cenotaph on November 11.
At 11am on November 11, 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month attained special significance in the post-war years.
Greenbushes RSL president Trevor Bottomley spoke to the gathering about the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by Australian service men and women and their families in times of war and in peace-keeping roles.
Students Tess Scovell and Ashlee Brayshaw read a poem at the ceremony and Karla Steele and Kyan Ellement laid a wreath at the cenotaph on behalf of the school.
After the ceremony the Greenbushes Primary School students hosted morning tea at the school for Returned Services League members and community members.
