Police were called to the suburb of Glenfield, near Geraldton, about 2am after a Holden Commodore collided with a Ford Futura, killing three people.
Both cars had caught fire when emergency services officers arrived at the scene.
Just minutes later, a 24-year-old man died in a separate crash in the state's South West.
The man was driving along Vasse Highway just after 2.20am in Yoongarillup when his Mitsubishi Magna veered off the road and hit a tree.
Twelve lives have been lost on WA roads this August including four people who died in a burning car wreck in Gosnells, a man whose car hit a tree in Lesmurdie, and Donnybrook footballer Chris Sheehan who died when his trail bike collided with a tree in Mullalyup.
Monday's deaths add to 97 fatalities recorded on Western Australian roads from January 1 to August 12.
Of those 97 deaths, 48 occurred in the metropolitan area while 49 happened on regional roads.
For the same time period in 2014, Western Australia recorded 105 road fatalities.
By the end of the year, this number grew to 184 – the highest it had been in the previous four years.
On Saturday the state government announced planned upgrades and safety improvements to about 100 traffic locations on WA roads under the state Black Spot Program.
In regional areas, the projects range from new traffic lights and street lighting for the corner of Old Coast Road and Mandurah Road, to a new roundabout in Kalgoorlie and a wombat crossing in the Kimberley.
"This important program... is part of our integrated approach to transport with measures to address congestion and get people home from work faster and safer," transport minister Dean Nalder said.
"The Black Spot Program is helping to reduce road trauma and deliver savings to the community in terms of less personal injury and motor vehicle damage."
A total of 102 projects will be funded in this year's program.
In 2015, Fairfax Regional Media, the publisher of this website, has committed itself to promoting road safety through the Arrive Alive campaign.
