Young rural innovators have been encouraged to apply for a $22,000 grant to fund a project which will benefit Australia’s primary industries.
The 2018 Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry are looking to fund innovative projects tackling issues unique to the industries.
The 11 Science Award categories open for applications include cotton, dairy, rural industries, fisheries and aquaculture, grains, and health and biosecurity.
The other categories are meat and livestock, pork, red meat processing, viticulture and oenology and wool.
The awards are open to people aged 18 to 35, with each category winner receiving $22,000.
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources run the awards to get young people involved in the sustainability of Australia’s agricultural, fisheries and forestry industries.
Applications for this year’s awards close October 13 at 2pm for West Australians.
