A dolphin and surfer sharing the water, three generations of farmers at work, and a Margaret River wine region identity bringing glamour to an ancient limestone cave.
These are just some of the eye-catching images taken by locals and visitors that feature in a 2018 South West calendar after winning places in the third annual This South West Life photography competition.
The South West Development Commission has revealed 26 standout images were selected to appear in the popular This South West Life calendar, which has been made available for free to promote the region.
Entrants were this year challenged to capture the spirit of the South West, resulting in a diverse range of scenes being put forward for consideration.
The special place Sugarloaf Rock holds in people’s hearts, locals and visitors out and about exploring the natural environment, and the quiet solitude that can be enjoyed in the region were among the themes that emerged from more than 800 entries received.
A photograph by Bruce King was selected by SWDC chairman Nick Belyea as this year’s Chairman’s Choice.
Meanwhile, a photo by Tim Campbell was named the recipient of the CEO’S Commendation by SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball.
SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball thanked everyone who took the time to enter and congratulated all winners.
“The standard of entries was once again extremely high, illustrating real passion for the region and the deep pool of creative talent in the South West and the wider state,” she said.
