A community meeting will be held at 5.30pm on Thursday February 8 at the Lesser Hall in Bridgetown, to provide an opportunity to discuss what should happen to the old Sergeants House next to the Bridgetown Police Station.
The old house is on prime land on Steere Street in Bridgetown, and has not been used for 20 years.
It has now been earmarked to be demolished, with some community members suggesting that it could be used for other purposes by local community groups.
Local Bridgetown-Greenbushes resident, Tony McAlinden, is very enthusiastic about keeping the building, suggesting that it could be well utilised within the community.
“There is an opening to keep this building and with the right supports, to use it for a number of services for members of our community,” Mr McAlinden said,
“This is a wonderful opportunity, everyone is invited to attend and it will be a great chance to ensure an old Bridgetown building remains in the community.”
