Even though Bridgetown photographer Victoria Baker has been taking portraits of locals for many years, it took an ‘aha’ moment to help her make the decision to create a book about the Humans of Bridgetown.
Victoria’s book will be launched at the Bridgetown 150th Celebrations on Saturday, June 9.
The book, aptly named 150, is a creative understanding of Bridgetown locals through Victoria Bakers eyes, depicting the community as it is during the 150th year.
“This book showcases a cross-section of the amazing Bridgetownians, captured in a moment in time in the life of Bridgetown,” Ms Baker said.
It covers all demographics and I think it is a true reflection of our community.”
There are some very colourful people in this book.”
The book launch commences at 2pm and will be held in the shop underneath the Emporium Bistro.
“Everyone is welcome to come along to the book launch and check out the book and the photos,” Ms Baker said.
“There will also be a documentary by filmmaker Steven Dean, who will help bring the stories of some of the Humans of Bridgetown to light.”
A limited number of copies of the book are available to be purchased on the day or they can be pre-ordered by visiting victoriabaker.com.au/book/150 or call in to see Victoria in her studio at The Rabbit Hole every Tuesday.
