A 43-year-old Margaret River man has been arrested, charged and refused bail after failing to comply with a COVID quarantine direction upon arriving in WA and providing false details to a police officer.
The man was approved to enter the State as a local resident returning from Victoria on New Years Eve, and was issued a direction to self-quarantine for 14 days at his residence in Margaret River.
Several days later it was established the man could no longer self-quarantine at the Margaret River residence.
On Monday January 4, the man was directed to self-quarantine at an accommodation venue in Fremantle.
Police were called to a disturbance at another hotel in Fremantle on the night of Monday January 11, where they discovered the man, who attempted to conceal his identity by providing false details.
The officers spoke to several people at the hotel, including the man, and it was established that he should have been in self-quarantine at another Fremantle location.
The man was arrested and relocated to the Perth Watch House.
He was charged with 'Failed to Comply with a Direction' and 'Give False Personal Details to Police' and was refused bail.
He is due to appear in the Fremantle Magistrates Court on Tuesday January 12.
